oikos sustainable development Lampi

Very happy to share this news about Oiko’s Onlus the noprofit organisation  I am collaborating with for a sustainable tourism project on Lake Como, Italy. I discovered that an Oikos’s project on conservation and co-management of the Lampi Marine National Park, in Myanmar, has been selected by Expo Milano 2015 as one of the world 18 Best Sustainable Development Practices on food security.

The project “Participatory Land-Use Management and Ecotourism in Lampi Marine National Park, Myanmar” , funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was recognized as one of the best practices in priority 1, Sustainable management of natural resources. It will be illustrated through a photo-story realized by Expo 2015 and shown during the exhibition.

The Best Sustainable Development Practices initiative is part of the “Feeding Knowledge” programme, which aims to gather and spread the best solutions for food security and sustainable development.

Five projects – realized in Mongolia, Niger, Guatemala, Tanzania and Italy – will be shown in a film produced by Expo Milano 2015; the other 13 will be illustrated through photographic stories and then shown in Expo’s Pavilion Zero, the largest thematic Pavilion in the Expo’s history, developed in collaboration with the United Nations.
